And Her Life...

And her life was a monument to the past. Her present existed, only upon reflection. Yesterday reigned supreme. She couldn't stop the tides of time, so tomorrow would come...and be recognized, another day. So, I say to her, take up the gauntlet that is today...and be present, and grounded...in your now.

Please, Won't You Join Me For Breakfast?

I want to have breakfast on this little balcony...a croissant, fresh fruit, and coffee. I want flowers on the table, a gentle breeze (to invite the leaves to dance), and the warm, morning sun on my face. I want the luxury of a morning, where I have nowhere to go...and nowhere to be. I would love it, if you could join me on my balcony...for breakfast, conversation, and coffee. You must wear your jammies, your most comfy slippers, and ...your best disposition. But wait, this balcony won't support a small table with flowers and breakfast. It won't support the two of us, and, look ...there really isn't a room from which we can gracefully open the door to the balcony...it's a FACADE . Oh, the disappointment. But wait, LOOK UP .....my brief reverie switches to...another. As these balconies sit quietly and benignly, creating a beautiful facade for the lower half of this building, WHA...

Nostalgia...A Detour, or a Roadblock

Sometimes, we delude ourselves, that we're okay where we are...that the road ahead doesn't loom. I wonder if this "delusion" may be rooted deeply, in the nostalgia of our life. It's a comforting place to be...a safe haven. Our nostalgia...from the "scratch the surface" that can lift and bring a smile, to the fragile and porous, is fiercely personal. We're lucky in life, if we can rewind through the years, and find some level of nostalgia at every stop. Not measured stops, not a purposely few stops, but frequent, random stops...as far back as your memory will take you. My memory doesn't take me much farther back than this. We're lucky, to have pictures that help "remind." Pictures...the tangible reminders of that moment; treasured memories collected over the years. Your nostalgia, y our memories...remain tucked away safely, until called upon...by whimsy, or need. I have many decades of nostalgia that I can call...
