No makeup, red Keds, two sweatshirts, long underwear, blue cords, canteen, a deer caught in the headlights look on my face, and evidently, a many decades-old slide gives one what looks like a double chin and a white beard...for the record, I have no double chin and no white beard
I have five digital newspaper subscriptions, and (by far), the WSJ is my favorite. There's much more there to capture one's attention, than the S&P 500, Nasdaq, etc. Truly, one could spend hours perusing.
My eyes went right to an article this morning, on men's fashion. The Nehru jacket is back! Not that it's called that anymore, but what else can one think it is, when (clearly) that's what it is. I never knew, personally, anyone who wore one of those. But, enough years have passed, that it's new again. And, it says, that rich men wear these now! Not sure it was a "rich man" thing back in the day, but it's now been elevated to that status. (I do have to add, the Nehru was always too trendy, IMO).
Fellow Boomers, I think that many things that were considered "stylish" back in our day, are finding their way back. They may be called something else now, but that doesn't fool any of us. Remember Madras shirts, shorts, etc.? And saddle shoes? Maybe those have already been back and I missed it. And, Keds? I had a pair of red ones that I wore from the bottom of Pikes Peak to the top. It was a long 13 mile hike to the top of the mountain, but memorable as heck, and a 14er...a pretty big deal in the world of hiking up a mountain! It was the summer I turned 16 (just before my Junior year of high school), but pretty sure I could find those same shoes for sale, today. I have a blogpost about that hike...if you look you'll find it.
As they say, "The more things change, the more they stay the same." And, so it goes.
