Soul Food

Food for the soul...what does that make you think? What does it make me think? Sometimes, my mind goes to the kitchen when thinking of soul food. And, when that takes me to the kitchen, the one thing that first comes to mind, is lentil soup. Why? It's earthy. Everything in it, had its start in a garden, somewhere. I haven't made it for a while, but now that I'm thinking about it, it'll definitely be on this week's menu. (Not that I really have a menu). The recipe I use is out of a cookbook, and I love it so much, I've never expanded my search for a more perfect lentil soup...lucky to have found it the first time around. Everything in it is healthy, and all the ingredients are perfectly suited.

Okay, enough about the kitchen. Really, when food for the soul comes to my mind, it's not something that comes from the kitchen. It's what nourishes what's inside that I try to find...while taking solitary walks. I used to walk in the country more, but since seeing a bear ambling through my favorite field, I now walk in parks within the confines of a city. As I said, I like solitary walks. 🐻

Alone time spent walking, is really where I find (or try to find) that food that nourishes my soul. All you have to do on that walk, is watch where you're going, and think. Think about whatever you like...what might solve a problem, or maybe a new approach to something that nags. Or you count your blessings, and acknowledge many things you know you're blessed with, and think of ways to push negativity aside when it pervades. To me, digging deep is truly what nourishes...appreciating, coming to terms with, adding a positive to one's path, and working on my ongoing battle of living life in the present. My blogpost (linked below) that I wrote years ago, still describes me...too much so. I'll always be working on that...
