Writing down your thoughts in a blog? Piece of cake. You don't have to worry about your grade, or using "ibid" in footnotes...YOU"RE the critic and the boss. If you use too many commas, it's on you...no editors to point out what you've done wrong. Whether anyone chooses to read what you've written...hit or miss. Over 58,000 "reads," though, so someone's reading. I'll never know who, but it's probably more than just a few. 😉
So, we all read books, don't we? It's great to have a couple of friends whose taste you share in books, as there's a lot out there, and a recommendation is always appreciated. What I read, is all over the place. For years, I focused on Russian history, but am done with that. I think that inspiration came from growing up during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I went back as far as Peter the Great, and trudged forward. Very interesting...if one is interested. You can learn about Peter's efforts to "Westernize" Russia, the fall of the Romanov Dynasty, how Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (otherwise known as Vladimir Lenin) came to power, and anything else you might choose to know.
My photo is a smattering of what I'll read next, and/or continue to read. Not unusual for me not to follow a book through to the end, but find interest in another book, before finishing. There's a lot out there to pique one's interest, and only so much time in a day.
JFK vs. Richard Nixon. The first Presidential election that I can remember. Horror of horrors...a Roman Catholic might be elected as president! I do recall being concerned about that, as I watched a lot of news programs, and it seemed that concern was universal. As a pre-teen, I was influenced by what I watched...what I read. This is possibly a good example of bias in the media, and how it did exist back in the day.
A lot going on in the world to keep tabs on, so reading sometimes takes a backseat. Tomorrow, maybe I'll pick up a book that I've started, dust it off, and finish it. Well, we'll see...good intentions, though.
