Bacon...I Can't Ride a High Horse

I don't buy bacon, my husband does. He cuts the pieces in half, freezes small servings in baggies, and brings it out...every now and then. Like this morning....we had bacon. Then he told me the eggs he made were fried in the bacon grease. I had an egg, fried in bacon grease, over toast (whole wheat), with two of the half pieces of bacon, that were equivalent to a whole piece.🤣(Are you following me?) SO, not sure what popular thought is on bacon, and/or frying an egg in bacon grease. It's what my mom used to do all the time. I think even pork chops were fried in bacon grease.

They used to make special containers for bacon grease, and I'm guessing they still do. We always had one in the fridge (growing up), where one could dip a spoon into the solidified grease, plop it into a frying pan, turn on the heat, and voila...that soft whitish scoop of solidified grease would turn into a hot, sputtering liquid, into which one would place their protein of choice.

SO, not really sure what my point is, here. I'm not coming out against bacon, as I do eat it...AND, it's yummy. I'm also cognizant of the many warnings against the eating of many things, so it's a choice to ignore now and then, I guess.

It's so much easier if you can ride a high horse when discussing some things...like meat, for example. I can't ride that high horse, though, as I'm not a vegetarian. However, I'm a thoughtful meat eater. Is there such a thing? Yes, there is...I just Googled it. It didn't list "Hypocrite" as a synonym, but I wonder...is it?

I have a post I wrote a while back..."Those Lean Hog Futures," that sort of addresses bacon. Differently, though...very differently.
