At a point along the way, I decided to eschew the bedroom set. You know, that one we HAD to have, as that's just what we did back in the day...the perfunctory headboard, dresser, chest, and nightstand (or two). A lamp, or matching lamps...depending. I guess I just got tired the look. SO, off to a place that sells used furniture, antique furniture, and an assortment of lots of other things.
Not my intent that day, at all, but I saw two chests that I fell in love with. They matched, and come to find out, they were valuable antiques. Called my husband and told him I purchased a couple new pieces for the bedroom, and that we needed to donate what we had...lamps, and all. We figured it out, and haven't looked back.
To my point..my kind of odd-looking lamp, in lieu of the traditional that we donated. It's small, and odd. "Where did you get that?" I've been asked. I don't think the question, when posed, has been in admiration, or "Where can I find a lamp like that?" type thing. I think it puzzles.
Since eschewing our nightstand, a "traditional" lamp wasn't going to do. SO, I found the lamp (in a box in the basement) used in one of our daughter's "toddler" bedrooms, and got rid of the frill. Bought a black lampshade, and one of those markers that has actual paint inside...a regular marker wouldn't do. Drew some squiggly lines, looked at it, laughed, and then it kind of grew on me. Clearly...not perfect, nor was it meant to be.
SO, to those who've wondered about the lamp, that looks a little odd...that's the story.
